A small tool for links you can measure.

Make your first campaign link

1. Paste a public website URL, including https://.
2. Choose Email, Social, or QR Campaign to fill source and medium, or enter your own values.
3. Name the campaign. Add content or a keyword if useful.
4. Review your link and choose Copy Link. Paste it where you want to share it.

Tags are lowercased and spaces become underscores. The five supported tags are utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, and utm_term. Existing versions of those tags are replaced, including duplicates. Other query parameters and the page fragment are kept. When a link already contains campaign tags, Use These Tags imports them for editing.

QR Campaign creates a tagged URL for use in your QR code tool; this extension does not generate a QR image. Your destination website must have analytics that reads UTM tags to report visits. The extension does not set up analytics, track clicks, check whether a page exists, or shorten links. Use campaign links for external promotions, not internal site navigation. Avoid adding tags to signed links whose signatures depend on an exact query string.

Data this extension handles

Protocol Campaign Links handles only the website URL and campaign text you enter into its own form. It builds the resulting URL entirely on your device. It does not read the active page, browser history, cookies, contacts, or clipboard contents.

Where your draft stays

The last draft is saved in Chrome’s local extension storage on this device so it is available when you reopen the popup. It is not synced by the extension. Saving is automatic while you edit. Local Chrome profile storage is not a secrets vault; use public marketing URLs and campaign labels, not passwords, private tokens, or personal customer information.

Clear Draft deletes the stored draft. You may undo that clear while the popup remains open and before another edit; the undo copy is held only in popup memory. Closing the popup removes that undo copy. Uninstalling the extension removes its extension storage. A copied link stays in your clipboard until replaced or cleared, and any link you paste elsewhere is retained by that destination under its own rules.

Sharing and permissions

The extension makes no network requests. Protocol and Eric Yim receive no URLs, drafts, usage events, identifiers, or analytics from it. No data is sold or shared with advertisers, used for unrelated purposes, or used for credit or lending decisions.

The only requested permission is storage, used to retain the last local draft. Copy Link writes the visible result to the clipboard only when you choose it, using Chrome’s user-activated clipboard API. There is no clipboard-read permission, access to websites, background worker, remote code, advertising, account, or paid feature.

Opening the Protocol website is a normal browser navigation governed by that website’s privacy policy. Campaign URLs are intended to be shared; their destination and its analytics service may process the tags when someone visits them. This extension itself sends nothing.

If something goes wrong

A blocked copy selects the result for manual copying with Ctrl+C or ⌘C. If saving fails, the popup shows an error and you can still copy the link before closing it. A draft load error lets you start a new link. Invalid links are explained next to the relevant field.
